Bombardier Aerospace To Attend Aviation Expo China 2007 in Beijing

To confirm the importance that China’s growing economy and marketplace represent in the aerospace industry, Bombardier will be present at the 12th edition of Aviation Expo China being held in Beijing, from September 19 to 22, 2007.

It is forecast that over the next 20 years, China will become one of the world’s key aviation markets. During this period, it is anticipated that the nation will represent approximately 15 per cent of the global demand for commercial aircraft and Bombardier believes its products will be competitive in this market.

In recent years, Bombardier’s aerospace activities in China have increased substantially and, as a leading supplier of regional aircraft to the Asia-Pacific region, Bombardier is fully committed to its partnerships with China’s airlines and operators. Currently, seven commercial airlines and government agencies in Greater China – including Taiwan – operate 46 Bombardier regional aircraft as at January 2007. Additionally, Bombardier Business Aircraft is the nation’s market leader with 41 per cent market share of the installed base.

The market in China for Bombardier Regional Aircraft continues to grow as Bombardier’s latest market forecast predicts deliveries of 1,660 regional aircraft with from 20 to 149 seats over the next 20 years. Combined with Bombardier’s current families of regional jets with 40 to 100 seats, and the proposed CSeries jetliners with 110 to 130 seats, it is anticipated that Bombardier is well positioned to take advantage of the market opportunities that China will provide.

With an installed fleet of over 100 business jets based in the region, Bombardier Business Aircraft maintains its strong presence in Asia-Pacific – Bombardier is the market leader in both the large and ultra long-range business aircraft segments, with 64 per cent and 54 per cent of the installed base respectively as at July 2007.

Bombardier’s premier business jet charter program, Skyjet International, offers the global traveller a range of turnkey travel solutions which allow them to enjoy seamless and customized travel service, when and wherever it is needed. With a goal to provide customers with the height of travel convenience, Skyjet International continues to expand its presence in Asia-Pacific – the region’s headquarters is based in Hong Kong – and to forge new paths for business jet charter in the region.

Bombardier Aerospace highlights longstanding relationship with China

In June 2007, the China Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC I) and Bombardier announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a long-term strategic cooperation in the five-abreast, 90- to 149-seat commercial aircraft market. This alliance marked a further extension of a well-established history between Bombardier Aerospace and AVIC I which includes AVIC1’s Xian unit that manufactures structural components for the Bombardier 415 amphibious aircraft, and Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC) which supplies components for the Q-Series turboprops.

In addition – as part of its mission to support customers – Bombardier has a regional aircraft spare parts depot in Beijing. Also, Bombardier has appointed Taikoo (Shandong) Aircraft Engineering Ltd. (STAECO) of Ji’nan as the first Bombardier recognized heavy maintenance facility in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Aviation Expo China 2007 is the only civil and military aerospace exhibition (including airport and air traffic control) organized in Beijing. The event will take place at the China International Exhibition Center (CIEC), Hall 8A. In 2005, the exhibit attracted 175 international exhibitors from 21 countries/regions and welcomed 27,000 visitors. From September 19 to 22, trade visitors and the media are welcome to visit the Bombardier booth located in Aisle V2.
