To support its strong business and regional aircraft presence in Australia and Oceania, Bombardier Aerospace will participate in the biennial Australian International Aerospace & Defence Exposition being held at Avalon Airport, Geelong, Victoria, from March 20 - 25.
This show marks two firsts for Bombardier with the widebody Challenger 605 and the high-speed Bombardier Global 5000 business jets both landing for the first time in Australia. The super midsize Challenger 300 aircraft will also be on static display.
Bombardier is a recognized leader in Oceania, with 29 business jets based in the region, representing 27 per cent of the total business jet fleet, many of which are successfully operating in the growing charter market in the region.
"We are encouraged by strong interest in widebody aircraft in this region and are delighted to debut the Challenger 605 and Bombardier Global 5000 at Avalon this year,” said David Dixon, Regional Vice-President, Sales, Asia-Pacific, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “With 100 per cent of deliveries in the large and ultra long aircraft segments into Oceania for the past five years, we know the new Challenger 605 will be well received.”
Bombardier is also a major player in Australian regional airline aviation. Currently, 61 Bombardier turboprops are in service with, or have been ordered by, companies across Australia. These include QantasLink which currently operates 38 Bombardier turboprops and has another two on order, and National Air Support which, in March 2006, ordered three Q300 aircraft to supplement the five Dash 8/Q200 aircraft in the Surveillance Australia Coastwatch program. “Aircraft that are proven in the market with low operating costs are essential,” said Steve Crowley, Vice-President, Asia-Pacific Sales, Bombardier Regional Aircraft.
Regional airlines and other operators in the Asia-Pacific region have a total of 225 Bombardier CRJ and Q-Series aircraft in service. Bombardier’s industry forecasts indicate that the region will take delivery of approximately 470 regional aircraft up to 100-seats over the next 20 years.
Skyjet International, Bombardier’s pioneering jet charter program, offers Australian travellers seamless global business jet charter services through its Asia-Pacific headquarters and a growing network of leading charter providers, including ExecuJet Australia.
Bombardier’s chalet is located at Row N19 of the Avalon Airport, near Melbourne. The Australian Int’l Aerospace & Defence Exposition is one of Asia Pacific’s most prestigious aviation, aerospace and defence events. In 2005, this exposition featured 527 participating exhibitor companies from 22 nations.
