Bombardier Aerospace will feature three of its market leading aircraft on static display at the sixth International Aerospace exhibition, Aero India 2007, at Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bangalore from February 7 to February 11. These aircraft include a 76-seat CRJ900 regional aircraft along with the super midsize Bombardier Challenger 300 and the ultra long-range Global Express XRS business jets.
Bombardier is present in the Asia-Pacific region with 57 Bombardier CRJ regional jets and 166 Dash 8/Q-Series turboprops based in this emerging market. Bombardier regional aircraft customer’s Air Sahara, with a fleet of seven 50-passenger CRJ200 regional jets, and Indus Air, with a fleet of two CRJ200 aircraft, are amongst Bombardier’s established customer base in India.
“India is a key sector in the Asia-Pacific region and is expected to show robust economic growth, with a GDP growth rate of about six per cent on average,” said Steve Crowley, Vice-President, Asia-Pacific Sales, Bombardier Regional Aircraft. “Bombardier forecasts that Indian operators will take delivery of 330 aircraft with 20 to 149 seats between 2006 and 2025.”
Business aviation is also growing in importance in India. Bombardier Skyjet International, Bombardier premier business jet charter program is also growing its presence in the region, having welcomed Princely Jets of Karachi, Pakistan to its network in 2005. Skyjet International is at the forefront of charter expansion – customers have access to a fleet of some 930 high-performance, state-of-the-art Bombardier light, midsize, large and ultra long-range business jets and 5,500 airports worldwide. Skyjet International is based regionally in Dubai and Hong Kong.
The Aero India exhibition will cover an area of 30,000 square metres of outdoor exhibit space and 25,000 square metres of indoor space, housed in fully air-conditioned exhibit halls. The event located in the hub of aerospace activity in India and home to the country’s top IT companies and scientific institutions, is an important aerospace event.

CRJ900: Since its entry into service with Mesa Airlines in 2003, the CRJ900 aircraft, and its sister aircraft, the CRJ705, have proven to be economical, flexible and passenger and airport friendly. Eleven additional airlines, including Germany’s Lufthansa CityLine, Arik Air in Nigeria, Air Nostrum in Spain, Atlasjet Airlines in Turkey, Air One and My Way Airlines in Italy, MAT Macedonian Airlines, SkyWest and Northwest in the United States, and Air Canada Jazz have placed firm orders for a total of 175 CRJ900 and CRJ705 aircraft.
Challenger 300: The first true super-midsize jet offers transcontinental range combined with a full eight-passenger cabin. The aircraft, which features a superior long-range cruise, can fly Mubai-Moscow or Delhi-Tokyo non-stop with a full payload. Its superior airfield performance allows it to operate out of 5,000-foot (1,524-m) runways with ease*.The 100th Challenger 300 aircraft manufactured was delivered on October 27, 2006.
Global Express XRS: The pioneering Global Express XRS business jet features the largest cabin of any purpose-built corporate aircraft, offering 28 per cent more cabin volume and 45 per cent more floor space than its closest competitor. Designed to provide a highly productive working environment and deliver ultimate comfort, the cabin features up to 6-foot,
3-inch (1.91-m) stand up height, and a three-compartment configuration. With a transcontinental range of 6,150 nm (11,390 km)* and a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.89, the Global Express XRS connects more cities faster than any other business jet in the ultra long-range class. It can connect Mumbai-Reykjavik or Mumbai-Sydney non-stop with eight passengers*.
