Bombardier Appoints Authorized Training Providers for CSeries Training Worldwide

  • Flight Training Alliance, the new joint venture between CAE and Lufthansa Flight Training, to provide CSeries pilot and cabin crew training
  • Lufthansa Technical Training also to provide CSeries aircraft maintenance training

Bombardier today announced at the Farnborough International Airshow that it has appointed Flight Training Alliance (FTA), a newly formed joint venture between CAE and Lufthansa Flight Training (LFT), as its exclusive Authorized Training Provider for CSeries aircraft pilot and cabin crew training worldwide. Bombardier also announced Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT) as its exclusive Authorized Training Provider for maintenance training on the all-new CSeries aircraft worldwide.

Flight Training Alliance will support Bombardier’s CSeries aircraft entry-into-service by providing comprehensive pilot and cabin crew training to CSeries aircraft customers and operators worldwide. It will leverage and deploy training programs in the CAE and LFT networks and will take advantage of the global networks and instructional delivery from both partners to support customer requirements.

CSeries aircraft operators will have access to the very best in training as FTA combines the strengths – operational expertise, in-depth instructor and courseware development know-how, technology leadership and global reach – of two industry-leading collaborators,” said Michel Ouellette, President, Customer Services and Specialized and Amphibious Aircraft, Bombardier Aerospace. “Both CAE and LFT are longstanding Bombardier partners and will provide the best training solution for the CSeries aircraft, during the entry-into-service phase and for ongoing support over the aircraft’s life cycle.”

“We are proud to continue to grow our partnership with Bombardier in order to support the CSeries aircraft entry-into-service training program,” said Marc Parent, President and Chief Executive Officer of CAE. “Our joint venture with LFT will provide a best-in-class training solution for the new CSeries aircraft, leveraging the core expertise of two world leaders in simulation and training.”

“By combining the specific strengths of the joint venture partners it is now possible to set new standards in training for our customers worldwide,” said Florian Hamm, Lufthansa Flight Training CEO.

“This additional building block in our growing relationship with Bombardier makes us proud,” said Andreas Kaden, Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Technical Training. “We are convinced our international network of technical training facilities will enable CSeries aircraft operators to build up their technical capabilities. We will support them to ensure the flawless introduction of this new aircraft type in their fleets.”

As Authorized Training Provider for maintenance training for the CSeries aircraft, Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT) will be handling worldwide manufacturer type training courses for technical aviation personnel. Through its expertise and its experience as a recognized training provider, LTT will also support Bombardier in the development of EASA-approved courseware.

The first simulator and training program deployments will be ready prior to entry-into-service of the aircraft, starting with the Bombardier training centre in Montréal where CAE has built the world’s first CSeries aircraft simulator. Additional deployments will follow in Europe, North America and Asia. The ATP agreement is subject to anti-trust approval in China.
