The exciting new Bombardier CRJ705 jetliner in Air Canada Jazz colours will be on static display at the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget held from June 13 to 19, 2005. The 75-seat aircraft, one of 15 on firm order, entered revenue service with Air Canada Jazz on June 1, 2005 with a non-stop flight from Calgary, Alberta to Houston, Texas.
The newest variant of the trend-setting Bombardier CRJ family, the CRJ705 aircraft combines the lowest operating costs in its class with superb performance characteristics and greater range; the LR (long range) variant flown by Air Canada Jazz can carry 75 passengers and their baggage up to 2,036 nm (3,773 km). The aircraft can fly up to 475 knots (880 km/h), or Mach 0.83, and has a maximum operating altitude of 41,000 feet (12,497 m).
The Air Canada Jazz Bombardier CRJ705 aircraft have 10 Executive Class(*) seats offering 37 inches (93.9 cm) of legroom and 65 Hospitality Class(*) seats at a comfortable 34 inches (86.3 cm).
"The Bombardier CRJ705 is an impressive airplane that provides exceptional passenger comfort and amenities including increased seat pitch in Hospitality Class(r), a dedicated Executive Class(r) cabin and large baggage capacity," said Steven Ridolfi, President, Bombardier Regional Aircraft. "Air Canada Jazz and its passengers will be delighted with this state-of-the-art aircraft."
Accepting the first Bombardier CRJ705 on May 27, 2005, Joseph D. Randell, President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Canada Jazz said, "It is a privilege to be the launch customer for the Bombardier CRJ705. The efficiency, range, size and versatility of the CRJ705 airliner will be significant contributing factors to our growth and success. The CRJ705 will take Jazz to new destinations and firmly establish our competitiveness in the North American market. We'll now better serve Air Canada's customers by flying longer routes in addition to our high frequency routes."
The aircraft has a maximum take-off weight of 84,500 pounds (38,330 kg) and is powered by two General Electric CF34-8C5 engines of 13,360 pounds (59.4 kN) thrust at take-off.
Avionics and cockpit systems commonality with the Bombardier CRJ200, CRJ700 and CRJ900 aircraft families means that all models can be flown by the same pilot pool, significantly reducing training costs.
