Bombardier Delivers First Two CRJ900 Jets To Skywest Airlines

Bombardier Aerospace has delivered the first two Bombardier CRJ900 regional jets to SkyWest Airlines, a subsidiary of SkyWest Inc. of St. George, Utah.  Of SkyWest Inc.’s 17 firm orders for CRJ900 aircraft, the first six are scheduled to be delivered to SkyWest Airlines in 2006.  SkyWest Airlines now operates all three variants of the industry-leading regional jet, the others being the Bombardier CRJ200 and Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft.

The two CRJ900 aircraft, fitted with 10 Business Class and 60 Economy Class all-leather seats, will fly under the Delta Connection banner for Delta Air Lines.

“This jet represents an expanded role for SkyWest in Salt Lake City,” said Ron Reber, President and Chief Operating Officer, SkyWest Airlines. “The CRJ900 aircraft combines excellent performance and passenger comfort with low operating costs, which is important to us and our mainline partner, Delta Air Lines. This aircraft will allow us to reach further into new markets, giving Delta the flexibility and competitive cost aircraft they need in their Salt Lake hub.”

“We welcome SkyWest as the newest Bombardier CRJ900 operator and the third operator for the type in North America,” said Steven Ridolfi, President, Bombardier Regional Aircraft. “SkyWest has been operating our CRJ aircraft since 1994 and these aircraft have made a major contribution to SkyWest’s growth and strength in its marketplace.”

SkyWest Inc (SkyWest Airlines and Atlantic Southeast - ASA) has a total of 324 CRJ aircraft currently in operation including the CRJ200 aircraft that commenced service in 1994.

As at April 30 2006, Bombardier’s Program Status Report shows total orders for CRJ900 aircraft standing at 95 with 43 delivered and a backlog of 52 aircraft.
