Agreement extension with one of the first Smart Parts airline customers reaffirms program’s strength
Bombardier Aerospace inaugurated its first All-Series Operators Conference General Session by announcing that it has signed a comprehensive, five-year agreement with Luxair Airline to extend Bombardier Smart Parts program coverage for European Q400 turboprop operator Luxair, the national airline of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
The five-year extension is customized to the airline’s specific operational and dispatch reliability needs and will continue to provide Luxair with competitive and predictable repair costs and superior availability of key components for its fleet of six Q400 NextGen turboprop airliners through 2017.

"The customized support and the close proximity of Bombardier's Frankfurt parts facility to Luxembourg enable Luxair to offer a reliable and punctual service to our customers."
Luxair was the first commercial airline to enroll in the Q400 aircraft Smart Parts program to optimize component services for its fleet. Since 2008, the European airline has partnered with Bombardier to continuously improve dispatch reliability, part availably and cost containment for its Q400 aircraft. With the Smart Parts extension, Bombardier will continue to provide scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on a broad range of components (including engine and APU line replaceable units) and provide around-the-clock Aircraft-On-Ground response.
Prior to introducing the Q400 aircraft Smart Parts program in March 2008, the pioneering Smart Parts program had been providing cost protection and budget predictability for Bombardier’s business aircraft customers for more than 25 years. There are currently more than 1,000 Bombardier business aircraft enrolled, covering over 35,000 components.
About Q400 NextGen aircraft
Optimized for short-haul operations, the “comfortably greener” 70- to 80-seat NextGen aircraft is a large, fast, quiet and fuel-efficient turboprop. It provides an ideal balance of passenger comfort and operating economics with a reduced environmental footprint. Bombardier has booked firm orders for 428 Q400 and Q400 NextGen aircraft, with 389 delivered as of December 31, 2011. Q400 and Q400 NextGen aircraft, which are in service with more than 40 operators worldwide, have transported more than 177 million passengers and have logged some 3.2 million flight hours and over 3.5 million take-offs and landings.
