- Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation highlights the latest mass transit solutions for interconnected mobility at Asia’s top railway event
Bombardier’s leading mass transit solutions are on show at the Asia Pacific Rail 2013 conference in Hong Kong, China, from March 12 to 14. The theme of the event focuses on ‘Building 21st Century Railway – A vision for future metros’.
Experts from Bombardier will present and take part in panel discussions on rolling stock innovation and driverless technologies at the conference. Guido Vogel, Head of Engineering, Rolling Stock Europe and Asia, Bombardier Transportation, will talk about the growing emphasis on reliable and energy efficient metros. Significant technological advances in recent years, including state-of-the-art signalling solutions, have enabled safe and highly efficient automated metro systems.
Bombardier’s comprehensive and versatile portfolio of innovative products provides smart transport solutions for interconnected mobility within and between 21st century urban centres. Its high-tech, high capacity BOMBARDIER MOVIA metros deliver rapid, reliable and cost-effective transport across major cities including Shanghai, Singapore and New Delhi. The MOVIA metro concept is completely modular, enabling vehicles to be configured to meet customers’ infrastructure constraints as well as future needs.
The highly reliable BOMBARDIER INNOVIA driverless systems support the urgently needed shift from road to rail to reduce congestion and pollution in major cities and airports, including Kuala Lumpur, Taipei and Singapore. INNOVIA driverless systems have served communities around the world for more than 40 years. Many of these systems benefit from Bombardier’s operations and maintenance services.
The fascinating BOMBARDIER ZEFIRO family of high speed trains offers the highest capacity in the market and the lowest energy consumption per seat of any very high speed train. The flexible vehicles cover a speed range of 250 to 380 km/h and can be customised to any market needs. They are the culmination of Bombardier’s global experience in the high speed sector, spanning more than two decades.
Not only has Bombardier successfully delivered the vehicles for these systems, it also supplies signalling technology that allows increased capacity and safety on urban and mainline rail networks. The proven BOMBARDIER CITYFLO communications-based train control (CBTC) solution uses advanced technology to facilitate operation of high density mass transit systems. The solution is operating on and being delivered to almost 30 lines around the world. Its applications range from complex overlays on existing high-capacity lines, which can be delivered without interruption to service, to systems for completely new lines, which can be operational in less than two years, to automated people mover systems. In Asia, Bombardier’s CBTC solutions are in operation or delivery on some of the newest systems in China, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
The innovative and high performing BOMBARDIER MITRAC propulsion and control equipment is designed to enhance the competitiveness of public transportation through its energy efficiency, compact design and reliability under demanding operational environments. Its modular design allows for flexibility in adapting systems to individual customers’ requirements. The state-of-the art MITRAC propulsion and control solutions are powering trains and metros all around the world including the BOMBARDIER MOVIA metros in Shanghai, Singapore and New Delhi and the ZEFIRO 250 high speed train.
