Bombardier Selects SAS Component for Q400 Support Package

Bombardier Aerospace has selected SAS Component to provide a Total Support Package (TSP) for worldwide operators of the Bombardier Q400 high-speed turboprop airliner. SAS Component Group A/S is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. Independently and together with partners, it is a global operator in the area of aircraft component management and logistics.

Trademarked as Free2Fly™, the SAS Component TSP is a comprehensive maintenance support package providing repair of major Q400 aircraft components such as the propeller, avionics, APU, landing gear, wheels and brakes. The offer of component repairs is complemented by the availability of an exchange pool of components and the availability of an on-site inventory of critical components to support dispatch of the aircraft. The TSP can be tailored to meet an airline’s specific operational requirements.

“SAS Component is the logical partner for us,” said David Schenck, Vice President, Customer Support, Bombardier Regional Aircraft. “The SAS name is highly regarded around the world for quality and efficiency. SAS was also the launch customer for the Q400 and SAS Component therefore knows the aircraft very well.”

Mr. Schenck said aircraft are no longer sold solely on the strength of their quality and performance; operators want a total support package as well. “This co-operation between Bombardier and SAS Component adds a new dimension to what we have to offer to the market, thus boosting our competitive advantage. We have the right aircraft and the right partner for a rapidly growing market demand.”

He said the SAS Component product would be especially beneficial to start-up airlines that usually do not have the infrastructure in place to handle the work themselves. “A total support package would eliminate most of the surprises and create predictable cash flow.”
