Bombardier Aerospace announced today that Adria Airways of Ljubljana, Slovenia has ordered one 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200* regional jet and has taken an option on an additional CRJ200.
Adria Airways currently operates five Bombardier CRJ200 and three Airbus A320 aircraft on its route network within Europe and to the Middle East. The airline carried 400,000 passengers in the first six months of 2004, an eight per cent increase over the same period last year.
Adria is also the Bombardier CRJ Recognized Service Facility (RSF) in Europe, providing heavy maintenance and overhaul services for the CRJ fleet in the region.
"Our Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft are a valuable resource to have on many of our intra-European routes," said Dr. Brane Lucovnik, President, Adria Airways. "They are the right size aircraft, fast, reliable and comfortable. Operating from Ljubljana, the CRJ allows Adria to fly a competitive number of frequencies and yet achieve profitable load factors, something which would not be possible with larger aircraft. The CRJ200 provides the heart of our service and performs exceptionally well."
"This order and others reflect the strength and success of the Bombardier CRJ200 program and affirms the continuing market demand for the aircraft," said Steven A. Ridolfi, President, Bombardier Regional Aircraft.
As of May 31, 2004 the Bombardier CRJ Series program, the largest in regional aircraft history, had received 1,359 firm orders with 1,095 delivered to customers in over 20 countries throughout the Asia-Pacific region, Africa, Europe, North America and South America. Conditional orders and options could boost the CRJ program total to 2506 aircraft.
