Bombardier Signs Exclusive Q400 Aircraft Maintenance Agreement with Republic Airlines

Agrees to terms for Smart Parts Coverage for its 32 Q400 aircraft

Bombardier Aerospace announced today that it has signed an exclusive nine-year heavy maintenance agreement with Indianapolis-based Republic Airlines for its 32 Q400 aircraft. Under this agreement, Bombardier will perform all heavy maintenance tasks for the airline’s fleet of Q400 aircraft at its service centres in Macon, Georgia and Tucson, Arizona through June 2021.

In addition, Republic Airlines has agreed to terms to enrol its aircraft in the Bombardier Smart Parts program, which will provide competitive and predictable repair costs and superior availability of key components for its Q400 aircraft fleet.

“Bombardier prides itself in offering world-class maintenance services and has long been the service provider of choice for many airlines,” said Eric Martel, President, Bombardier Customer Services & Specialized and Amphibious Aircraft. “We are pleased to have Republic’s vote of confidence as its exclusive maintenance provider, and that it has chosen to meet its operational needs through our leading Smart Parts program.”

“Operating the Q400 aircraft fleet presents an exciting opportunity for Republic as it looks to connect and expand destinations under the United Express banner,” said Bryan Bedford, Chairman, President and CEO, Republic Airways. “We are confident that Bombardier will provide the quality maintenance service we expect from a leading aircraft manufacturer. The Smart Parts program has a proven track record in delivering enhanced cost predictability and component availability and we look forward to incorporating these benefits into our operations.”

With more than 25 years experience in providing cost protection and budget predictability for its customers, Bombardier is uniquely positioned to deliver optimal maintenance and support solutions. There are currently more than 1,000 Bombardier business aircraft enrolled in the pioneering Bombardier Smart Parts program, covering over 35,000 components. Since its initiation, the program has continued to expand with the adoption of Q400 Smart Parts by regional carriers worldwide. Most recently, European Q400 aircraft operator Luxair extended its Smart Parts agreement for an incremental 5 years.

Bombardier operates eight service centres in the United States - each of which received the 2011 AMT Diamond Award of Excellence - and one in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Three of these facilities - located in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Macon, Georgia, and Tucson, Arizona - are dedicated to providing maintenance services for Bombardier commercial aircraft around the clock, 24/7.
