Bombardier Teams With Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes Formula One Driver Lewis Hamilton

Bombardier today named Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula One driver and rising star Lewis Hamilton as its new Learjet Brand Ambassador.
This relationship also marks Bombardier’s entry into the world of Formula One racing.

For over five years, Bombardier Racing has linked the speed and performance represented by the legendary Bombardier Learjet aircraft brand to winning motor sport teams and world-class motor sport events. Fresh from his first Grand Prix career victory at the Canadian Grand Prix on June 10 and subsequently, his United States Grand Prix victory on June 17, Lewis Hamilton personifies what the Bombardier Learjet brand stands for: speed, power, agility and performance.

“Bombardier is delighted to name Lewis Hamilton as Learjet Brand Ambassador”, said Pierre Gabriel Côté, president, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “His achievements have impressed the sporting world and he has tremendous potential to become a legend, just like the Learjet brand.”

A Vodafone McLaren Mercedes racing driver since November 2006, Lewis Hamilton is a rising star in Formula One racing. A competitive driver since the age of 10 when he began go-karting, Lewis Hamilton has worked relentlessly in order to achieve his ultimate goal of driving in Formula One. After his debut with the British Formula Renault Winter Series in 2001,
Mr. Hamilton successively competed in British Formula Renault Series, F3 Euroseries and GP2 Series, until his Formula One debut in 2007. Throughout his first Formula One season,
Mr. Hamilton demonstrated exceptional talent and consistency and successively set three Formula One records: the first Formula One driver to finish in the top three in his first three Formula One championship races; the youngest driver ever to lead the drivers' championship; and the first driver since 2001 to win a race in his first Formula One season.

“Another of my dreams has been fulfilled as I now fly by Learjet”, said Mr. Hamilton,
who as an admirer of the iconic aircraft also embodies Learjet’s philosophy: My race, my rules, my journey to becoming a legend.

Live The Learjet Race

Naming Lewis Hamilton as the new Learjet Ambassador is another step leading to the 45th anniversary, in 2008, of the first flight of a Learjet aircraft. Initiating the celebrations marking this milestone, Bombardier unveiled last month a sleek new visual identity for the legendary Learjet brand. Inspired by the famed Learjet winglets, the new Learjet logo reflects both the heritage of this iconic brand while capturing the energy and tempo of Learjet’s exciting future.

Learjet is the first name in corporate aviation. Since acquiring Learjet Inc. in 1990, Bombardier has carried forward the brand’s proud legacy by launching seven high-performance and fuel-efficient aircraft, the most recent being the midsize Learjet 60 XR, incorporating an all new modern flight deck with an advanced cabin electronic system and a stand-up cabin redesigned for style, comfort, and functionality. Its highlights include a wide aisle, generous seated head and shoulder room, LED lighting throughout the cabin, and four executive floor plans.
