- Knorr-Bremse and Clerprem recognised for their contribution to a responsible supply chain
- Bombardier committed to further promoting sustainable business practices to strengthen competitive advantage
Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation presented this year’s Supplier Sustainability Awards to its suppliers Knorr-Bremse AG - Division Rail and Clerprem S.p.A. The awards recognise suppliers’ accomplishments in the field of sustainable development and their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Products and services that meet Bombardier’s high environmental and safety standards strengthen the company’s competitive advantage and its claim to shape the future of mobility, responsibly.
Bombardier Transportation’s suppliers who have proved an on-going commitment to product responsibility as well as good governance, ethical values, respect for employees and the environment were invited to apply for the Supplier Sustainability Awards. The evaluation process focused on pro-active initiatives, product innovation, responsible procurement and environmental stewardship as these elements provide added value to Bombardier and its suppliers.
Knorr-Bremse was honoured in the category of suppliers with more than 500 employees for its progress in developing and integrating corporate responsibility – from governance and product stewardship to employee volunteering – systematically in its management and processes. Clerprem received the award in the category of suppliers with less than 500 employees for its excellence in product innovation resulting in an ultra-lightweight seat to improve environmental performance and for its societal engagement to meet the high standards of its customers.
Lutz Bertling, President and COO of Bombardier Transportation, said: “Congratulations to both Knorr-Bremse and Clerprem for their commitment to a responsible supply chain. We are very conscientious in our business practices and we expect our suppliers to meet our high standards of ethical business conduct. We collaborate closely with our suppliers to foster a working environment based on engaged talent, continuous innovation, sustainable manufacturing practices and eco-efficient products and services. This is how we create value together – for our respective businesses but also for society.”
