Government of Macedonia Takes Delivery of New Special Edition Bombardier Learjet 60 Business Jet

Bombardier today announced that it has delivered a new Special Edition Bombardier Learjet 60 midsize business jet to the Government of Macedonia.

The new jet will be used primarily to provide national and regional nonstop service for senior government personnel. The aviation department of the Government of Macedonia will operate the jet under a civil registry at its base in Skopje, the nation's capital, from where it can fly up to eight passengers non-stop across much of Europe including to cities such as Brussels, London and Stockholm. The aircraft is fully compliant with international reduced vertical separation minimum (RVSM) operations and European JAR-OPS1 regulations and procedures.

"We began a comprehensive tender evaluation process in October and, based on both technical and economic criteria, we believe the Bombardier Learjet 60 represents the best aircraft in its class," stated Saso Novkoski, aviation department manager for the Government of Macedonia. "Its superior cabin and outstanding reliability, in particular, offer increased productivity and flexibility to our passengers."

Introduced in October, the Special Edition Bombardier Learjet 60 is now the production standard for all new Bombardier Learjet 60 aircraft. It includes a comprehensive array of avionics and interior features formerly available as options, including an Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS), a Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS II) and an auxiliary power unit.

"The Government of Macedonia had a specific list of requirements and we are gratified that their research has resulted in the selection of the Special Edition Bombardier Learjet 60," observed Derek Gilmour, vice-president, government and special mission aircraft sales, Bombardier. "The aircraft is rugged and reliable, it flies 2,340 nautical miles (4,334 km) non-stop and, is the best equipped aircraft in its class."

A total of 278 Learjet 60 aircraft have been manufactured to date. As of December 2004, the fleet had logged over 775,000 flight hours and posted a dispatch reliability exceeding 99.52 per cent.
