Japan Air Commuter signs for a Bombardier Q400

Bombardier Aerospace announced today that Japan Air Commuter (JAC) has placed a firm order for one Bombardier Q400 high-speed turboprop airliner. The transaction represents the conversion of an option.

Kagoshima-based JAC, the largest regional airline in the Japan Airlines Group, has now placed firm orders for 10 Bombardier Q400 aircraft since its original order in August, 2001. The airline serves routes on the mainland and to Japan’s offshore islands.

“This follow-on order affirms once more the Q400 aircraft’s profitability and strong passenger appeal,” said Steven Ridolfi, President, Bombardier Regional Aircraft. “The Q400 has, without any doubt, the lowest operating costs of any regional airline aircraft.”

The contract announced today increases firm orders for the Bombardier Q400 to 176 aircraft, with 106 delivered to operators in North America, Europe, the Middle East and the Asia/Pacific region as of December 31, 2005.
