Lutz Bertling appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of Bombardier Transportation

Bombardier today announced the appointment of Lutz Bertling as President and Chief Operating Officer of Berlin-based Bombardier Transportation, effective June 3, 2013. Prior to joining Bombardier, Mr. Bertling was President and Chief Executive Officer of Eurocopter Group, a subsidiary of EADS. Mr. Bertling replaces Mr. André Navarri, who will remain as Strategic Advisor to the President and Chief Executive Officer until June 1, 2014 at which time he will retire from the organization.

Mr. Bertling held several functions with increasing responsibility at Adtranz, DaimlerChrysler Rail Systems GmbH between 1993 and 1999. Afterwards, he joined EADS’ Military Aircraft Business Unit as Vice President Augsburg Plant and Aerostructure Programs in 1999. He eventually moved to Eurocopter Group in 2003 as Executive Vice President Governmental Helicopters, was promoted Chief Executive Officer of Eurocopter Deutschland in 2006, only to be appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Eurocopter Group a few months later. During his tenure, he successfully managed an international group with subsidiaries in more than 20 countries, nearly doubling its revenues to $8.3 billion in 2012.

Mr. Bertling studied Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig, earning a Doctorate in 1992. He is also Chevalier de l’Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur of the Republic of France.
